Serendipia: Historias de científicos que revolucionaron la Odontología

Resumen

Serendipia, una palabra común en la literatura científica en inglés; pero que luego de casi 300 años de su acuñación no ha sido aceptada por la Real Academia Española. En todo caso, se refiere a los descubrimientos realizados por accidente, casualidad o hechos fortuitos, pero siempre detrás de una mente acuciosa, capaz de comprender, explicar y aplicar, eso que algunos llaman accidentes afortunados, que incluyen desde la ley de la gravedad, la invención de la máquina de vapor y muchos otros inventos, incluyendo descubrimientos de uso cotidiano en la odontología. En esta última rama de las ciencias biológicas, se recopila información referente al estetoscopio, la anestesia, los rayos x, la penicilina y los implantes dentales, todos producto de la serendipia
